The teachers who reach out to engage and inspire children in ravaged towns and refugee camps are extraordinarily brave and committed. In 2013, the IRC trained more than 20,000 educators, helping to bolster education in places like the Democratic Republic of Congo, where an estimated 31 percent of school-age children have never set foot in a classroom.
