When a woman lives in a crisis zone with few — if any — medical facilities or doctors, it’s hard for her to get the help she needs for a healthy pregnancy. That’s why, in places like Kenya, we train local women as safe motherhood promoters in their villages. These promoters provide lifesaving support for mothers-to-be all the way through the day they deliver their babies — and on into motherhood.
