A Goat
Goats and other livestock are often a family’s most valuable investments; when animals perish in disasters, it’s devastating to a household. In the aftermath of the 2010 floods that inundated Pakistan’s Sindh province, we delivered more than 8,000 goats to survivors — particularly female-headed households — to help them start a new herd that will feed their families and lift their economic fortunes.
